After Central, it was Temple (undergraduate) and Temple (law school); nice to be reminded that many of my high school classmates are also from Temple Law Class of '76. Married during law school to the lovely Maureen Pelta (next anniversary is our 35th).
While in college I also worked for a law firm to support myself, and that's when I decided I wanted to be a trial lawyer. After a judicial clerkship I went to work for Arthur Raynes (Raynes, McCarty & Binder), but left in '87 to form my own firm, now called Feldman, Shepherd, Wohlgelernter, Tanner, Weinstock & Dodig (Feldman Shepherd for short). We've grown to be a firm of 18 attorneys concentrating in serious personal injury claims, as well as class actions and other complex civil cases. We're now in our 22nd year. I've been our managing partner since the beginning, but now share responsibility with a "co-managing partner" who is much younger and smarter than me.
I've been very lucky. I love my work and the people I work with, and I've also had opportunities to serve my profession that were exciting and challenging. I was Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2006, and President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association a decade earlier. On the personal side, our kids are pursuing their careers and lives and we follow their adventues avidly. We are fortunate to have them visit us pretty often. Maureen and I still live in the home we moved into in Bala Cynwyd in 1983, and spend pleasant summers (and occasional weekends in other seasons) at the beach in Longport, NJ.
