Oh boy, this hurts. Howard and I became good friends through S.A.R. in high school  Had so many great times together at dances and social events. We were roommates freshman year at Penn State- we started in the summer session right after graduation so we could be on main campus. I was there when he met his future wife Bonnie that summer. We "double dated" with our girlfriends throughout Freshman year. Had so many great times together. He was one of the first and greatest Rock aficionados ever and I was forever in his debt for turning me on to the the Buffalo Springfield, the Nazz, and Todd Rundgten among many others. We drifted away after that but I never forgot his friendship, his eagerness to learn and try new things and his upbeat outlook. And the fact that I let him down that Freshman summer by not going with him to that music festival in upstate New York because the weather was supposed to be lousy and we didn't have any tickets, May His Memory Be of a Blessing

Very sad news. May Howie's memory be for a blessing. Wishing strength to all his family and loved ones and comfort in having shared his life. He will be missed but remembered with good and happy thoughts.

So sorry to hear that Howie has passed. I have fond memories of sitting next to him in Dr. Fuller's history class. We fooled around a lot and we were given Dr. Fuller's writing punishment. I had to write 100 times "Fleisher the flaming youth", and Howie had to write "Fatell is a cute little fellow". Of course we passed our writing punishment around and had our fellow classmates help with the writing. Dr. Fuller didn't seem to care that the sentences appeared in different handwritings.May his memory be for a blessing.

Howie wrote in my yearbook, "Hey Rich, Best of luck always, to the champ, Howie." I was always humbled by that gift and the happy young man Howard Fatell. Rest in peace, Howard. We will keep your memories alive.
